Hey girl! Your diet and active routine sounds pretty awesome! You’re 15 so your body is still growing and changing, and so you never really know what it’s going to do. But since you’re setting it up with the right nutrients and you’re treating it like a temple, I’m sure it’s gonna be kickin’ no matter what! Keep it up :)
Is Cortisol Killing Your Workout?: How Elevated Cortisol Levels Hurt Your Training
If you’re an athlete who likes to exercise at high intensities, or participates in strength training, then the hormone cortisol is something you should be informed about. Cortisol could just be the reason that you have hit your training plateau. Normally cortisol’s major function is to generate fuel for working muscles. Normally your muscles will use a system of metabolic priority to choose which energy source to use to power your body. This order is normally carbohydrates, then fat, then finally protein. But because of the stress that intense exercise can place on the body. This system of priority can be totally ignored by your body. Now when cortisol is released it causes a breakdown of protein in the body. So if your goal is to increase lean muscle and gain strength, this breakdown of protein in your muscle by the hormone cortisol can actually negate all the training you have been doing.
Additionally cortisol can also cause the immune system to be suppressed by lowering the concentration and activity of the immune cells in the body. Athletes who experience this increased cortisol level and don’t do anything to prevent it may find themselves at an increased risk of infection because of their weakened immune system response.
If you are an athlete who is concerned with maintaining a normal cortisol level or think you might be negatively by the effects of elevated cortisol. You need to try MODULATE™ by Thorne Performance. MODULATE™ supplementation helps maintain a normal ratio of the adrenal hormones cortisol and DHEA, subsequently buffering negative stress responses.* MODULATE™ also improves the balance of T-helper 1 to T-helper 2 cells, which can result in enhanced cellular immunity and the down-regulation of overactive immune responses.*
The potential of the active ingredient in MODULATE™ have been shown to promote immune health in a group of volunteers participating in an ultra-marathon was investigated in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study.* Subjects in the MODULATE™ group maintained a healthier immune response compared to the group taking the placebo.* The benefit to the immune system is believed to be because cortisol levels did not increase in response to the exercise stress in those taking MODULATE’s active ingredient.*

I’d like to take all the credit for this idea, but I can’t. This was all Jeremy’s doing. We love salt & vinegar chips, so he thought it would be a good idea to make a healthy version out of sweet potatoes. I couldn’t object to that!
While he was preparing the salt and vinegar, I recommended…
